Powerball Set for Changes in August 2021

New Monday Drawing

The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which oversees the organization of Powerball, has announced that the number of drawings per week will be increasing from two to three.

The new draw day will be Monday, starting from August 23rd. Drawings will also continue every Wednesday and Saturday.

It is the first time that the draw schedule has ever been changed in Powerball history. Winning numbers have been selected twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, since the game was launched on April 22nd, 1992.

Powerball to Continue in Idaho

Under previous plans to expand Powerball internationally, Idaho law meant that the game would have ended in the state from August.

Current laws in Idaho only allow for residents to take part in lottery games in the United States and Canada.

A bill was put forward in Idaho to change the state law so that the game could continue across the state after proposed international expansion, however the bill was rejected by the House State Affairs Committee.

As plans for international expansion have now been shelved until at least 2022, the Powerball game will no longer withdraw from Idaho in August 2021 and will remain available to Idahoans.

Idaho was one of the first states to offer Powerball back when it first began, before it expanded to 45 U.S. states plus Washington D.C, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
